Deus Ex is an immersive sim, and it’s gonna be rough for first-timers, since most of them are used to linear shooters and games.

That’s why having tactics are important, and here’s my personal ones that i find useful.

1. Setting grenade traps

Place a grenade on the wall, each grenade type can do some useful things: Gas grenades stun enemies LAMs decimates organic and metal enemies EMPs disables camera and turrets for a short time, while can be also used to disable robots permanantly. Scramble grenade makes robots friendly to allies (aka: you)

2. Baiting

Baiting is an useful tactics, you can lure enemies and give them an unexpected kill/unconcious takedown. It’s especially useful on loud weapons like the unsilenced Sniper Rifle, the GEP Gun and the Plasma rifle/PS20.

3. Headshotting with non-sniper weapons

Very good for close range combat in Revision mod. Even better with the lazer attachment for pistols on the 2000 GOTY version for long range. Weapons include:

  • Shotguns (any kind) at the head close range
  • Pistol (any kind) from Revision at the head close range
  • Pistol (any kind) from GOTY with the lazer sight at the head long range, that attachment makes it 100% accurate.

4. Leaning?

Idk if it exists in the base game, but it’s useful too.
